How to replace/reset REL-7

Replacing

To replace an REL-7 into a particular network, you must first ensure the Evolve Device Replacement Tool software is registering as “Ready to Replace Device.”  This can only happen after a room number and specific device type has been selected for replacement.  Please refer to Replacement Tool Overview for further detail on using this software.

The REL-7 is a unique device to replace into a network, in that it contains 3 devices in one, or 3 different “Node ID’s”.  Therefore, all 3 node ID’s must be replaced into the network in order for it to be integrated properly.  These three nodes are standardizes into 3 names: the “Doorbell,” the “Drapes,” and the “Sheers.”  It is important to provision each node in order:

  1. Press the switch button one time, and notice the green LED begin flashing once.  Provided the replacement tool is ready to replace the “Doorbell” node ID, press and hold the switch until the program confirms the Node ID has been replaced.

  2. Press the switch button twice, and notice the green LED begin to flash twice.  Provided the replacement tool is ready to replace the “Drapes” node ID, press and hold the switch until the program confirms the Node ID has been replaced.

  3. Press the switch button three times, and notice the green LED begin to three times.  Provided the replacement tool is ready to replace the “Sheers” node ID, press and hold the switch until the program confirms the Node ID has been replaced.

A successful enrollment into an Evolve network will be registered by the replacement tool software, and “Device Replacement Successfully” will appear on the screen.  If after multiple attempts the device has not enrolled within the intended network, cancel the software’s replacement attempt, and try resetting the device.  See Resetting below.

Resetting

To reset an REL-7:

  1. Disconnect power to the device

  2. Press and hold the switch button

  3. Reconnect power to the device while holding the switch button.  Note the LED begin to flash for approx. 5 seconds.  When the LED stops flashing, the device has been successfully reset.
